Bristol
Central Tennis
Club is a friendly
members-only tennis club, tucked away in a quiet location near St
Andrews Park in central Bristol.
'Central' was established in
1932 and renovated in 1999, to include a modern and comfortable
clubhouse, complete with bar & kitchen area. We have 4
all-weather, floodlit
courts so you can play for the whole
year, with no extra costs for using the floodlights or for balls
during
club play and league matches. We cater for the full range of
players, from beginner (with a
thriving Junior section and popular Improvers Courses for adults)
through social play ( Club Play & First Saturday Tournaments) to
more competitive play (with a number of teams playing in the Avon
Tennis Leagues - no further fees required).
The bar is not staffed but about 20 members are holders of bar keys in
addition to the bar steward so asking
around if you'd like a drink will usually do the trick! There are
periodic social events, such as summer BBQs (e.g. at the end of summer
league) and a Christmas party after the Annual General Meeting in
December.

The tennis club is behind the Bowls Club,
at the Sommerville Road end
of Derby
Road - follow 'Happy Lane'
(a small lane
that runs
parallel to Sefton Park Road, to the side of the Bowls Club) for 100m
or so, until you come to our gate. If it is locked (as it should
be unless you are expected - keys available for members), shout &
wave at people on court
and someone should come to help.
