We have a thriving Junior section with over 100 children of all ages. While we focus on the skill and technical development of every child, we try to base most of the learning in fun and enjoyment, without the pressures that sport can cause. Our aim is for children to enjoy tennis into adulthood.

Junior Coaching Programmes

Junior coaching takes place throughout the week and is structured by age group and stage of development. Coaching follows the LTA Mini Tennis framework, with juniors progressing through to full (yellow ball) tennis as appropriate.

Junior coaching at Bristol Central Tennis Club is delivered by Kerris and her team at Absolute Tennis Bristol. Junior membership of the club is not required to access coaching, as the programme is run directly by Absolute Tennis.

Full details of available coaching sessions can be found on the Absolute Tennis Bristol website.  Bookings can be made directly via the Absolute Tennis website or by contacting Kerris:

All coaching fees are payable directly to Absolute Tennis Bristol.

Junior Play Outside Coaching Programmes

For juniors who wish to play tennis at the club outside coached sessions, or who wish to take part in Junior League competition, club membership is required. We offer different junior‑related membership options depending on how and when a child wishes to play.

We also offer Parent membership for parents who wish to play with their children.

The Head Coach can advise on the most appropriate membership for your child, or you can email bctcmembers@gmail.com for further information and to check availability. All membership fees are payable directly to Bristol Central Tennis Club.

Junior Memberships (£25 per year)

Junior Membership is suitable where:

  • Juniors wish to play informally with family members who are club members; or
  • Juniors wish to represent the club in Junior League matches.

Except when taking part in a coached session, junior members must be supervised by their own parent or guardian while playing at the club. Junior members are not able to book courts.

Parent Memberships (£55 per year per parent/guardian)

Where a parent or guardian is not already a member but wishes to play tennis only with their child, a Parent Membership is available.

This membership allows a parent or guardian to book courts, and play with any of their children who are under the age of 18 (without having to register their child as a visitor).

Note, any children who are not Juniors (ie. are over 18) would need to be treated as regular visitors or have their own membership.

Full-Junior Membership (£55 per year)

For juniors who play at a higher standard and would benefit from playing more regularly either with adult members or with each other, we offer a Full‑Junior Membership.

Participation in adult sessions will be under supervision and will be guided by the Head Coach.

Full‑Junior Members aged 14 and over, with the agreement of the Head Coach and the consent of their parent or guardian, may play independently with other Full‑Junior Members and book courts for this purpose.

If you are interested in Full‑Junior Membership, we recommend speaking to the Head Coach in the first instance to confirm what additional playing opportunities would be appropriate.

Further details of how we manage supervision and access of Full-Juniors can be found on our Junior Player policy.

Junior Leagues

Junior league teams are run by Kerris and Junior and Full-Junior members will be eligible to play.

Safeguarding
